The Disabled American Veterans is an organization created in 1920 by World War I veterans for disabled military veterans of the United States Armed Forces that helps them and their families through various means. It was issued a federal charter by Congress in 1932. It currently has over 1 million members.

MAJOR PROGRAMS

DAV gives a plaque to the ROTC Cadet of the Year every year. They include Army, Air Force, Space Force, Marines and Navy. We donate to Camp Corral. We mail Christmas care packages to deployed soldiers. We take veteran families shopping for Christmas presents for their children. Usually between 4 to 6 families. This also includes a food basket.

OTHER IMPORTANT THINGS FOR YOU:

We meet the second Sunday of each month at 1430 at The 40 & 8. We raise funds to help veterans by doing festivals and selling our pins, hats, shirts, magnets, bracelets, key chains, etc. We currently go to Monon Food Festival, Wolcott Festival, Earl Park Festival and Brookston Popcorn Festival. We also set up a table at Golden Corral the first Saturday of each month. We also participate in Stand Down that helps homeless veterans. 100% of our funds go to help local veterans within 8 counties. We answer veterans that are in need for a variety of reasons. IE we had a veteran whose home was totaled from a fire. We donated money to help with his expenses. We also donate to other veteran organizations when possible such as Mary T Klinker Veteran Resource Center.

MISSION

The mission of Honor Flight is to celebrate America’s veterans by inviting them to share in a day of honor at our nation’s memorials.

OBJECTIVE

Our Honor Flights to Washington, D.C. are more than a day trip; they’re a token of our gratitude and an opportunity for veterans to build lasting connections.

MAJOR PROGRAMS

Honor Flight of Greater Lafayette was started to provide all-expense-paid trips to Washington, D.C. for Indiana veterans. On these one-day trips, veterans have the opportunity to visit their memorials and enjoy time with other local veterans. We depart from Purdue University Airport in the morning, experience a great day sightseeing in the nation’s capital, and return in the evening.

It can be hard for veterans to get out and stay active and connected. That’s why we design our Honor Flights with the goal of empowering them, helping them meet others through pre-flight events, and offering them honor and gratitude for their service.

LTHC Homeless Services has the Veterans Services Program which provides services/supports to Veterans (and their families) who are at-risk for or already experiencing homelessness. Our Case Managers serve Benton, Clinton, Carroll, White, Fountain, Montgomery, Tippecanoe, and Warren Counties. Any Veteran in a housing crisis is encouraged to reach out to our program for assistance and help to obtain sustainable housing.

In May, LTHC hosts a variety of activities as part of Military Appreciation Month and in November, we host the Stand Down for Homeless Veterans event.

MAJOR PROGRAMS

The Purdue Student Veterans Organization (PSVO) serves as a source of knowledge, support, representation, advocacy, and camaraderie to any and all students with a military affiliation, as well as their immediate family members. PSVO students are supported by the campus Veterans Success Center and attend professional development and networking opportunities through the school year to integrate military-connected students into the workforce. PSVO members become involved on campus as well as in the greater Tippecanoe County community through volunteerism with organizations such as LTHC, Lafayette Urban Ministry, the Sea Cadets, and Blue Star Moms.

The Purdue Grand Prix is one of PSVO’s biggest events of the year, taking place each spring; a student-led pit crew is assembled to prepare a kart for racing in the event. Proceeds from this event fund other programs and events for Purdue student veterans. PSVO also participates in the Purdue University Veterans Day Program and events surrounding the Purdue University Military Appreciation Football Game. Additional annual events for professional development and networking include the National Student Veterans of America Conference and military- and veteran-friendly career fairs held on campus and in the community. Annual volunteer opportunities have included assisting with LTHC’s Veterans Stand Down and the TCVC Memorial Day Flag Placement event.

The Forty and Eight was established in March of 1920 by American Veterans of the American Legion.
The #364 Voiture in Lafayette, IN was chartered in August of 1922.

PURPOSE
Our purpose is to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States, to promote the well-being of
veterans, their widows, widowers, and orphans, and to actively participate in selected charitable
endeavors, which include among others, programs that promote child welfare and nurses training.

MAJOR PROGRAMS

•  Child Welfare- founded in 1923 to help children in physical distress and continues today with
  assisting children in need.
• Nurses Training- established in 1955 with 23 scholarships given to local Nursing Students from
  Voiture #364 in 2022.
• Carville Star- the 40 and 8 entirely funds the publication of the Carville Star Magazine which
  includes medical research for Hansen’s Disease and Tuberculosis.
•  Veterans Administration Voluntary Service (VAVS)- members volunteer at veteran medical
  facilities. The 40 and 8 program of ‘Keep Those Wheelchairs Rolling’ meets patient needs for
  medical equipment.
• Youth Sports- provides financial assistance for youths 7-20 years encompassing all amateur
  sport programs.
• Americanism- promotes furthering the American way of life by sponsoring Flags for First
  Graders, Boys State, Girls State and memorial dedication ceremonies etc.
• POW/MIA- supports national efforts to return remains and provides a Scholarship Fund to aid
  families of POW/MIAs.
• National Box Car Association- raises funds for all 40 and 8 programs

Major Programs:  With its unequaled credibility on America’s Reserve Components, ROA is a powerful advocate in Congress, the Pentagon and VA, and policymaker offices throughout Washington. ROA leads the nation’s efforts to ensure the Reserve Components are strong and ready, and Reserve Component families are well cared for.

For 100 years ROA has been the only organization solely dedicated to supporting the Reserve Components and their critical role in national defense.  ROA is America’s only exclusive advocate for the Reserve and National Guard – all ranks, all services. With a sole focus on support of the Reserve and Guard, ROA promotes the interests of Reserve Component members, their families, and veterans of Reserve service; and conducts a legislative campaign that ensures the readiness of our Reserve force. Together, ROA’s members sound off in one voice for one mission.

Reserve duty has changed, with increasing operational missions.  So has the “new” Reserve Organization of America.  ROA provides the tools, resources, support, education, and advocacy Reservists and their families need to succeed, in and out of uniform.

Other important activities:  Chapter 15 meets the second Monday of each month with Greater Lafayette Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America at noon at the VFW located at 2660 Duncan Rd, Lafayette, Indiana.
